• Carry out the planned maintenance required on plant.
• Incumbent has to be pro-active and prevent breakdowns on his/her patrols and shows initiative to continuously improve equipment performance – condition based maintenance.
• Ensure that all work is performed in a Safe and Environmentally conscientious manner
• In both electrical and mechanical disciplines, install, service, repair and maintain existing and new equipment.
• Attend to electrical and mechanical faults/breakdowns within the factory.
• Basic troubleshooting on PLC’s and SCADA systems.
• Programming and faultfinding on VSD’’s and soft starters.
• Programming and faultfinding on defined instrumentation and calibration.
• Root cause analysis of repetitive faults; implement corrective measures.
• Steer ‘Continuous Improvement’ teams to improve equipment reliability and performance
• Maintain high standard of work.
• Ensure machine availability for production targets to be met.
• Undertakes to work shift, standby and overtime as per company requirements.
• Electrical panels must be closed and locked at all times and kept in a neat and clean condition complete with a set of as built wiring diagrams.
• Adhering to Safe Working Permit procedures at all times (e.g. confined space, working at height, hot work, LOTO etc.)
• Ensure any dangerous conditions to be made safe immediately.
• Ensure that during all work performed, food safety is never compromised.
• Correct errors on electrical and mechanical drawings, update accordingly.
• Alignment of goals to achieve NCE objectives.
• Complete the necessary administrative tasks for AMM, SHE, CDM and MDWT.
• Interact with production, Suppliers and contracting staff
• Coaching and mentoring of technical operators and apprentices.
• Planned maintenance, Condition Based maintenance.
• Safety regulations.
• Breakdown Maintenance, Fault finding and repairs
• Line efficiency, WO completion rate, SHE requirements met.
• Admin
• Energy saving and environmental initiatives.

You must have the following:
• Served Apprenticeship and qualified with a Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Electromechanician.)
• A minimum of two years experience in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Preferably have a Certificate of Registration as an ‘Installation Electrician’.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical & problem solving skills in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Basic working knowledge of PLC’s
• In depth knowledge of maintenance practices.

You will be responsible for the following:
• Install, maintain and improve both electrical and mechanical equipment
• Ensure efficient, safe operation of machinery by setting and adjusting devices to within allowed tolerances.
• All work carried out on premises must conform to SANS code 10142-1:2003 (wiring of premises) and internal standards (if more stringent in all areas of engineering, quality and safety health & environment.)
• Fault finding and attending to breakdowns in both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
• Complete the necessary administrative tasks for AMM, SHE, CDM, CI and MDWT.
• To be actively involved with new project installations, CDM and MDWT.
